Good People Part 3
October 25, 2008 by Matt.
Ok, now what about Paul. Surely He was a good person. Well, you know by now what my answer is to that.
NOPE
Paul spent the first part of his life tracking down Christians, persecuting them, having them beaten and even killed. Hmm.. That certainly doesn’t sound like a good person to me.

Good People Part 3
October 20, 2008 by Matt.
Ok, so let’s talk some more about good people. Another man in the Bible that most people have heard of is David. Would agree that David was a good person?
WRONG
So, let’s look at David for a minute. In 2 Samuel chapter 11 we see a story about David. Now, David was the king and in his day when a country went to war they were led by their King. Well, in 2 Samuel 11 we see that the nation was at war and David decided to stay home. So, while his men were off fighting, David decided to take a leisurely walk on the roof. While up there David spotted a women, Bathsheba, bathing. Now, it wasn’t his fault that he saw this women. However, in verse 2 we see that David noticed that she was very beautiful. So, this was more then a chance glance and then he turned away. He spent enough time looking at her to notice and comment on her beauty. But, wait it get’s better. In verse 3 we see where David then sent a servant to find out about her. The servant, realizing that what David was doing was wrong, pointed out the fact that this women was married. Ignoring this, David sent servants to bring her to him. He then slept with her and she became pregnant. In verse 6 David, upon hearing that Bathsheba was pregnant, sent a messenger to retrieve her husband, Uriah, from where he was involved in the war. David then tried to get Uriah to lay with his wife so that David’s indiscretion might be covered up. However, Uriah out of loyalty to his men that were still fighting in the war refused to lie with his wife and even refused to sleep in his own bed. After Uriah refused to lie with his wife on a second night, David wrote a note and sent it with Uriah. In this note David told the commander of his army to place Uriah on the front lines and then withdraw from him so that, “he will be struck down and die.”
So, David lusted after Bathsheba, he committed adultery with Bathsheba, he lied to cover his indiscretion, and then arranged to have Uria killed. So, do you still think that David was a good person?
You may be reading this and wondering where I am going with all of this. Stay tuned it will all make since at it’s conclusion.

Good people part 2
October 14, 2008 by Matt.
Ok, so in my last entry I promised to start a series about Good People. Ok, well her is the second installment.
I am sure that most of the people reading this have heard of a man named Moses. In fact I would venture to bet that most of the people in the US, if not the world, have heard of Moses. So, Moses was a good man, right?
WRONG
Ok, stay with me.
Let’s look at Moses for a minute. Exodus 2:11 & 12 tells of how Moses killed an Egyptian that was beating a Jew. So, Moses was a murder. Ok, then in Exodus chapter 3 we see where Moses was called by God, verses 7-10, and then proceeded to argue with God, telling him why he could not do what God had called him to do. Moses gave God no less then four excuses for why he was not the right man for the job. Does this sound like a good person to you, a murderer and a coward that would rather argue with God and make excuses then to take up the commission that God was giving him.
Ok, I know that some of you are probably thinking that I have completely fallen off of my rocker about now. Well, I promise you that I haven’t. If you want proof, you will have to stay tuned. Tomorrow we are going to look at David and why he was not a good person either…..
Don’t worry, I am going somewhere with this and it will make sense in the end, I promise.
